Nigerian stylists have become forces to be reckoned with in the fashion industry and while a lot keep soaring some have delved into designing/creating their own brands.
With a solid knowledge of what the industry entails mixed with what clients and the publics want creating a way to satisfy this and filling the missing gap, these stylists have made something good out of their passion.
While some of these stylists started off as designers, some have created a brand out of their love for fashion while some have dabbled into other industry but have created their own brands within the lifestyle industry.
1. Ade Samuels
With an impressive clientele including Kelly Rowland, Jhene Aiko, Yara Shahidi and Big Sean amongst other celebrities L.A based celebrity stylist Ade Samuel got her break after assisting stylist James Worthington Demolet during her internship at Teen Vogue internship.
The Nigerian US based stylist owns an eponymous line of shoes; Ade Samuel Shoes.
2. Ugo Mozie
Ugo Mozie is a Nigerian born US based fashion stylist and creative director. He is known mainly for his work with Sex and the City 2, the 51st Grammy Awards and more. He was scouted as a model by Jay Z years ago before he turned to styling; his passion. He has gone on to style Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Davido and more celebrities. He is the fashion editor at large at 360 magazine, NY fashion editor for Ghubar magazine.
He owns Ugo Mozie hats, a line of customized hats already seen on Beyonce, Gabrielle Union and more.
3. Veronica Odeka
Dubbed stylist to the stars, Veronica Odeka boasts of an exclusive client list including Genevieve Nnaji, Dolapo Oni, Waje and more. She started off as a model working with Armani and more brands.
She has since put celebrities in bold red carpet looks, worked on editorials over the years launching her own Vane Style studio before finally launching her own line of nail polish; Vane Polish in 35 shades that's become a bestselling brand.
4. Bubu Ogisi
Bubu Ogisi is a stylist known for her artsy interpretation. She's styled editorials and worked with top celebrities including Asa, Rita Dominic and many more.
She's also the creative brains behind Iamisigo; a womenswear brand with a standalone store in Lagos Nigeria.
Her brand has presented across major fashion weeks and it's still growing strong.
5. Adebayo Oke-Lawal
Adebayo Oke-Lawal is known for his selective styling and has worked on major shoots, styled top celebrities in the past years till date.
He is the founder and creative director of Orange Culture a menswear brand out of Nigeria that has gotten rave reviews and has shown across major shows in different parts of the world.
6. Jane Micheal Ekanem
Jane Micheal Ekanem is one of the most popular stylist in Nigeria, known for making a stylish brand out of TV girl Bolanle Olukanni and popular celebrities.
She recently gave a peek at her own line of womenswear pieces which has since adorned some of her clients' bodies.
7. Toyin Lawani
Toyin Lawani is a stylist who's worked with a lot of Nigerian and top celebrities. Known for her loud and over the top yet functional pieces, she's made a name for herself as a fashion stylist.
She owns Tiannah Styling a fashion brand amongst other business that has her name on it.
8. Ezinne Chinkata
Ezinne Chinkata is a stylist to the stars who's worked with celebrities including Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Monalisa Chinda.
She owns the Zinkata brand; a boutique/ready to wear store where she stocks handpicked pieces from brands, Zinkata.com a fashion/e-retail website and Zinkata as a fashion styling and consultancy services.
