Sheer or transparent clothes are a tricky trend to execute but Grey projects new collection gets it just right and keeps it classy to boot.
GREY projects unveiled their SS18 collection at their store over the weekend and it was a painfully stylish affair. Fashion influencers and special guests alike filled the store dressed head to toe in the designer but if one thing stood out, it's the sheer trend and how well executed it was. Here's how to do sheer according to GREY projects.
According to Vogue magazine, GREY is right on trend as transparency is the next big thing. The style bible wrote:
THE line of your underwear was once a thing to be disguised – but this season’s trend for transparency means that bras and knickers have been on show almost everywhere you look. From the barely-there, wispy dresses at Helmut Lange to Simone Rocha's embroidered tulle layers; Burberry's sheer plastic trenches to Emporio Armani's diaphanous cardigans, whether designers have been layering translucency or freeing the nipple, opacity is no longer a requirement for clothing.
Fashion blogger, Derin, and Stylepreneur, Ozinna, both took the plunge in SS18 GREY and showed us how to do sheer the right way.
Derin is known for taking risks when it comes to fashion. She was the first to rock the Jacquemus 'square round' white leather sandals and is the first to wear head-to-toe colour. We knew she would not shy away from some sheer at the GREY launch and we were not disappointed. Derin paired her orange sheer midi top with high waisted black palazzo pants and a black crop top. The overall look was very chic and a little peek of her taut abs was the perfect amount of skin.
Ozinna looked every inch the lady in a sheer purple dress which tied at the waist. She paired it with a black bodice and made sure to flash a little flesh in the leg area. Due to the colour of the dress and the heaviness of the material, Ozinna was able to get away with a little bit of skin and the overall effect was fashion-forward and surprisingly elegant.
